Harley-Davidson revealed its new lineup of 2014 motorcycle models during the company’s annual Summer Dealer Meeting in Denver.
The star of the event is not a single new bike ;instead, it’s the landmark product development effort that led to Project RUSHMORE.
“I can guarantee when the customer throws their legs over this thing they are going to say wow,” said Bill Davidson, the great-grandson of Harley-Davidson co-founder William A. Davidson.
In the biggest scale new model release in the company’s 110-year history, Project RUSHMORE includes eight new motorcycles that feature improved power and braking performance, enhanced rider ergonomics, and updated styles.All these completely redefine and fundamentally transform the travel motorcyclist’s experience.
Product development process
One more significant feature of the bikes is Harley Davidson’s first liquid-cooled engines.
The new Twin-Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 powertrainis featured in the 2014 Ultra Limited and Tri Glide Ultra models.
“Project RUSHMORE has been touched by thousands of people,” Scott Habegger, Harley-Davidson Director of Motorcycle Planning said. “The voice of the customer is represented not just up front, but throughout the process. In our product development process, we gather input and ideas.”
